At Scampston Hall near Malton, extensive repair work was carried out to the late 18th Century Palladian Bridge, possibly designed by 'Capability' Brown. The main superstructure had previously been altered to incorporate a gutter – thus substantially altering the classical proportions of the upper façade and pediment. The restoration work included re-roofing, the reformation of the classical frieze, cornice and other details, extensive repairs to the hollow timber columns, repairs to stonework to the plinths, cast iron railing replacements, and re-leading of the cornice and eaves. The walls and columns were re-decorated using sand paints with line rulings incorporated as a feature to the walls.
