This property is owned by the University of York and was primarily used as accommodation for post-graduate students. Constantine House includes the frontage to 36 St Marys and the area at the front of this part of the property had been left uncared for without proper maintenance since the 1970’s. We were asked to prepare a scheme of repair and enhancements and obtained listed building consent. The works carried out included the repair, replacement and extension of the distinctive wrought iron railings, new brick walls with stone copings, new pavings, stonework repairs to steps and architectural features, pointing repairs, new cast iron rainwater goods and decoration works. The improvements were carried out to a very high standard using traditional methods.

Despite the modest size of the project, the effect in terms of the improvement to the streetscape has been welcomed.
