Brodsworth Hall, Doncaster *

Client: English Heritage

The brief from English Heritage was to design a new ticket and reception building at the entrance way to Brodsworth Hall - an early 19thC country house acquired by English Heritage in the 1990's. The building proposals accommodate a ticket and security point, sales and recruitment area, shop, display areas, public toilets, staff facilities and storage areas.

The building was designed square in form with a hipped, Westmorland slate roof, reminiscent of other buildings on the Brodsworth estate, surmounted by a glazed lantern. Large areas of glazing to the elevations were designed to flood the interior space with natural light. The facades are clad in larch with sliding security shutters.

The project was completed in Summer 2014.
